boynimbus asked: yo, shimmy, sorry to bother you, but i have a problem. i just got accepted into PACS with co-op in waterloo, and my parents are making me feel guilty about it being my second choice instead of first. all my life i've wanted to go to uoft, but their IR program has no co-op option. thing is, i'm not familiar with the waterloo area at all. i don't know what to do, i'm attached to toronto since i was raised there during childhood, but i also don't want to put a huge burden on my struggling parents.
Co-op is an amazing opportunity itself. Waterloo is very well known for it’s co-op program because it provides many benefits to students
Co-op provides good networking opportunities, helps with financial income, and to build up credentials on your resume. In my opinion all University degrees are worth the same except if you are in a unique or difficult program like Engineering or Actuarial science. Arts degrees are no use after graduating including Science degrees. People are looking for more work experience or education; University degrees mean nothing any more since it’s a standard in our society now.
So if anything you will be fine either way. If you love Toronto that much and love the comfort and familiar feeling, then stay there. But if you choose to stay in Toronto you better work your ass off education wise, be productive outside of school, and do it for your parents.
Either way you will be a-okay!
